Unnamed Oral History Interview – 2099

I’ll tell it straight right from me because I work a lot so I just tell it straight right from me.

Do you know anyone personally, or have heard of, who have had experiences where they’ve had experience with the police?

Yeah, all the people that have the experience with them, people I know, they done left Cleveland. They say they can’t deal with them no more so they left Cleveland.

Or their experiences.

I mean, they got pulled over. I assume they got pulled over, handcuffed, and slammed to the ground just for a traffic ticket. You know, end up at the hospital for two or three months for a traffic ticket. You know, I’ve seen them take them back here. I’ve see them take them back there and beat them up. I’m coming from work, I work the second shift, and they come back here. They’ll be them up back there and leave them there, right there by the building right there, or the park there. Right behind the building right there. There, they leave them right there. I can’t stay there, I had to keep going, but when they left I came back and I said, okay, we got to call these people for everything, you know what I’m saying. But I’m just saying, I’m just trying to stay [inaudible – passing car].

Have there been any other instances when you’ve witnessed something like that?

Well not lately. But like I said, I work so much. But not lately. But I’m just saying, you know, five years ago, 10 years ago, I’d have seen it, so. I’m just saying that I have my views on… I don’t like it at all. I can’t do nothing about it. We didn’t get along in the 90s, the 80s, and now, all the people getting shot and killed. That one thing I forget, that guy named… I forgot where he was at. That big guy that they suffocated.

Oh, in New York.

Yeah. That was, I mean, they choked him out. He told them he can’t breathe and they still choked him out. You know? Held him down. And that case, that case got thrown out. That case got thrown out. And nothing, anything happened to the cops. Did you watch the news about that case? You go on CNN and got that? Ain’t nothing happened to them cops. Nothing. It’s like they’re playing young guns. Nothing happened to them cops, they closed that case and it was over. We heard nothing about it. As I said, I could see an illegal game. Couldn’t get away with too much. It was like, I don’t want to go back too far for you all, but the Rodney King thing. They charged them, and convicted them, and three months later, they all was released. They got sent to prison but three months later all the men got released, no problem. Now tell me how that happened. They got the video tape. They got convicted and sentenced away and they all was back home in they house two and a half months later. All of, all three of them. One of them didn’t even go. They got one of them, the other one on probation. How did that happen, and ain’t nobody do nothing about it till now. They talking about it but I ain’t seen… I watch the news all day but I ain’t seen nobody do anything about it. Ain’t somebody doing anything about it. I’m waiting on it to happen but hopefully it do, sometime soon rather than later. That’s how it go, though, man. And like I said I can see them illegal game. You know. I ain’t got no problem with it. My name is Tracy [Bend? 3:26]. You want to talk to me anytime I’m right here on 10508 Park. You talk to me anytime, I got no problem with it. But that’s my view.

Thank you so much.

Can I keep this?

Yeah, yeah, please do. And you can go back and you can what we’ll have uploaded and what other people have said.

Oh, right here?

That’s an email.

You can go straight to the website there.

Okay, cool, okay cool, okay, cool. I’ll go there, check it out. That’s my views, I mean, you know. Hopefully do something about it, but hope – like I said – rather sooner than later.

Thank you.

Hope you have a good night.

You too.

Okay.
